What anti-virus software do you recommend?

SCS uses Vipre on all of our computers although other major vendors work equally as well. Be sure that whatever you use, you configure it to automatically download the virus definitions, and that it is set to Auto Protect your system at all times. We like to tell our clients that there is no single anti-virus software that will stop all viruses. Keep in mind that a virus has to be created before a company can come out with a fix for it.

What is the single biggest issue that you see with your clients?

The single biggest issue is lack of anti-virus software or having the software but it's not up to date with the virus definitions. SCS has seen computers with definitions from three years ago loaded, but new viruses come out every day. Update your definitions daily or at least once per week.
(Hint: We can talk you through how to set this up over the phone.)

At what point should a company network their computers? Should two be networked? How is it done?

Every company should use a network to share both the Internet and common files. Networking is an essential part of a solution to common problems like sharing files and printers, sending and receiving email, as well as making offices more productive and efficient. Networking solutions are possible with as few as two PCs and can easily be setup without a dedicated server or hub, which reduces costs.
